It sounds as if you might have a track on the cause of the problem.

The three finger mambo of Ctrl/Alt/Delete only treats the symptom.

(Remember, if the mouse doesn't work...there is the keyboard. Pressing the key corresponding to the underlined letter on the radio button...in this instance, an "e"...is the equivalent of a mouse click. )
