Microsoft also rejected a proposal by the states that
Microsoft develop a version of its popular Microsoft Office
software for the Linux operating system, people familiar with the talks said.

The states argued that the development of Office for Linux
would give a boost to the upstart competing operating system and blunt Microsoft's ability to use Office to gain control of the market for operating systems for servers, which run networks of computers.

What the heck is this ? Do those lawyers have any clues how the high tech industry works ? States lawyers want MS to help dig its own tomb ? Well, I think MS should agree on the other hand to do this only so that it works ONLY on Windows. <s>
