Excuse me for interrupting, but I think you may be missing an important point. These new memory technologies would not look any different than flash to the consumer. They could be packaged in CF, MMC, or whatever form factor is desired and would provide non-volatile storage. So your argument of moving to something else really isn't valid. It would just be a different brand CF. If CF wasn't an open architecture than I would tend to agree with you. Look what happened to the IBM pc.

I couldn't sleep.

The local BestBuy is carrying the Casio QV-3000EX for $999.99 with the IBM microdrive bundled. I guess IBM is resorting to the next best sales strategy...

...their giving it away.

Unfortunately, I no longer believe the $1,000.00 price point is viable in the targeted consumer market for non-professional digital cameras. I have heard several floor managers tell me, for example, that the Olympus C-2500 just isn't moving. At $1,200.00 I think it is clear why.

Casio has not been a good SanDisk supporter, although I am thankful for their loyalty to the Windows CE product line and the CF standard.
