bsg, i know what drives at least 9 out of 10 of the biggest e-commerce sites and it ain't linux ;-) bgr is a yes guy and believes the hype. msft is, by far, the largest enabler of the internet. i'd bet that 90% of people using the net use windows. visual basic and its database server applications use msft. active server pages (asp) are msmft based.

lnux is making inroads, but the inroads are limited in scope relative to msft's dominance.

you no longer NEED the msft if you don't mind starting from scratch and learning a more complex way of computing, programming databases and the like. however, folks are currently voting w/ their pocketbook and they still ship billions to msft.

some folks want to appear to have insider knowledge. usually bgr just accepts the words of those who must be smart to write a book and then regurgitates it. a little out of character.
