James, I am sorry to learn that you got caught in that market swing where the change worked against you. It is even more regretful that the entire stock market was whipped into the carnage created by the Microsoft kangaroo farce. The news media seems to be cautious about the DOJ and Judge Jackson's
ruling being responsible for today's historic swings in the market. It is painful to bear but fortunate for me I have completely dumped all my margin just before last Friday.
Today's dramatic slide may have been caused by many margin calls. My conclusion is those good companies which have historically done so well will be the engine of wealth going forward. CMGI,CSCO,ORCL,SUNW,EMC,JDSU.QCOM,and maybe someday MSFT. Their time in the SUN will come again but we must endure the pain and crap of politics in the interim.

Frank

James Thompson - You lost money and it's Clinton's fault? Give me a break. Clinton has presided over the longest sustained economic expansion in our history while (opposite of Reagan) cutting the budget surplus and holding down inflation. Clinton may be a scoundrel in his personal life but you have to be a hardline rightwinger not to see that he's been good for the economy. Reagan ran the budget deficit up to astronomical heights. Now his heirs in Congress want to spend the surplus on tax cuts and leave our children and grandchildren holding the bag for the future of Social Security and Medicare. You are so lame.
