>good chance of going down 50% this year and staying down for several years,

But you are forgetting.. The vast majority of investors in the market have never seen a market go down for more than ONE FRIGGIN DAY!

The idea of a market staying down for more than a few days, MAX, is something that people simply cannot fathom because it has never happened in their entire investing lifetime.

The only way they'll ever change is with a heaping helping of Tough Love and Economic Violence. That, and bankruptcy filings can't be a bad idea either.

BTW- today was the first day in 3 months that the fed refrained from injecting another 3-5 billion in "reserves" into our economy.. They know what's up, and they know what they're doing. They're basically keeping our economy from collapsing.

But the problem is that you cant keep printing money forever, or you have what's referred to as monetary devaluation. A loaf of bread ends up costing a wheelbarrow full of german marks in the weimar republic..

>>Chung Lee, If you thought your LT portfolio had a good chance of going down 50% this year and staying down for several years, would you still leave it untouched?

Sam, yes.

They have been thru hell and back many times over, I will only sell them if growth slows and they were no longer the leaders in their respective industries.

OTOH, what if it goes up 50% every year for several more years, would you still sell now?

One rhetorical question deserves another. <G>
