In my opinion, this is exactly what is happening to the tobbaco and gun companies, except the other way around.

Re: Just consider this scenario: The Exxon oil tanker is sitting anchored in the bay, waiting for something, let's say high tide. A drunk fisherman with no insurance crashes into the oil tanker and causes the same damage. Do you think the same lawyers would pass on suing Exxon anyway?

A fishing boat hitting a supertanker would damage only the fishing boat, but there are other scenarios that would make your point. OTOH, Exxon did put that guy in a position where he could do enormous damage. What if he had been the drunken pilot of the plane that crashed and killed your children? Would you feel the airline was in any way responsible?

Our legal system can be very frustrating, what alternative do you propose?
