TE.SA.M. obtains licence for Globalstar service in Paraguay
April 4th 2000

The Paraguay Telecommunications Regulatory Authority - CONATEL - has just granted
the licence for the provision of Globalstar mobile satellite services to TE.SA.M. Paraguay
S.A., a subsidiary of TE.SA.M. SAS.

TE.SA.M. SAS, a company created by France Telecom (51%) and Alcatel (49%), is one
of the founding strategic partners of Globalstar L.P. TE.SA.M. develops the Globalstar
service in more than 30 countries around the world, including Paraguay.

Globalstar is a digital telecommunications service, based on a constellation of 48
low-orbiting satellites (LEOs) which extends the coverage of existing terrestrial networks,
cellular or fixed. Globalstar is particularly well suited to serving territories poorly covered
by fixed or cellular networks, or isolated areas without telecommunications network
coverage whatsoever.
