Jim, A friend just called me,(7PM) he was on hold at E*Trade for 45 minutes. Guess why they are backed up? That's right, margin calls for selling tomorrow. The sell off near the close today was margin sales from hopeful investors hoping the market would turn higher today to bail them out. Didn't happen today and probably not tomorrow. Perhaps open strong and sell off. Forced margin selling usually around 3 PM cdaisey@no-margin.com

Anyone pay attention to the VIX? I am reading over on the 'clown' thread that Luc is excited about a high VIX. However, for as long as I have been in the market, a high VIX (especially one above 30) has always retreated, and ushered in a market rally. If the markets 'fear' level is so high, wouldn't that be a contrarian indicator? I know I am asking a lot of questions with a hint of desperation. The reason is, I'm sitting on some (currently) ITM options that expire in April, and don't really feel like watching them disintegrate due to a Naz meltdown.

Hi JW, I'm not exactly sure how I offended you. I assure that was never my intention. In the post to which I'm responding you say "why do you assume nobody reads elsewhere?" While in the post to which you were responding I said "Moreover, many here not only lurk elsewhere but also post widely." Since I have seen your posts on a number of other threads, I can personally attest that you "get around". So I'm not quite sure what the problem is. The sole purpose in that part of my post was to encourage exploration by any (especially newbies) who might be unaware of the rich and varied resource that SI is. However apparently my choice of words was imperfect for the result was not as I intended. Sorry to have aroused your ire. Not lurking...just porchin' lurqer
