Scumbria, <x86 instruction streams have too many hazards and dependencies to do much out of order execution.> My thinking is that branches are the real killers. If not, could you expand? <Having lots of execution units impresses Microprocessor Forum audiences, but does little for performance.> With on-board caches, the miss penalty is substantially reduced and additional execution units should offer a bit more performance due to this.
