Hi Dan; I believe this favorite of mine still holds true when we begin to question testing or trials.

"1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.
9What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? 10I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
12I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, 13and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor?it is the gift of God.
Ecclesiastes 1

Acceptance is the key

Browsing tonight/this morning

Blessed be the Name of the Lord,

Would that be around about way of saying be careful what you ask for when wanting to be closer to Jesus?

Recently, I've been praying for a change of heart towards others based upon walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. How strange that I get all these situations which seem to test my ability to keep my eyes on Jesus and not look away instead at the circumstances.

I am ever reminded of the scripture in Ephesians chapter six which begins, "We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but...". Am I the only one who quickly forgets the influence of the enemy on those with whom one may have conflict?

Just rambling. But seriously, why is the SI Christian community reluctant to post their personal testimonies at Jesus Is Lord?

Because of HIM, I live.

Mike

< I am finding more each day that it is not a matter of what a "preacher" says, or preaches, but what I hear >

Right... actually (peoples) reality is radically subjective. Each persons understanding of any words will be (at least slightly) different for example.

Further, words are linear and VERY limiting. For example an observed sunset versus reading about it.

Therefore all doctrine, including the bible is a very limited version of "absolute truth". Probably why Jesus used example, and oral stories... tried to make sure to impart as much truth as possible.
