brees, at no point in my posting was there a hint of a "nervous giggle" nor is there ever likely to be.

I find criminalizing marijuana offensive, as I'd have found Prohibition offensive if I'd been alive at the time. I have made my position quite clear.

If you have known "dozens" of people who have used marijuana for recreational purposes, then you must surely have encountered people who did not nod off into oblivion, ruin lives, or do anything except live their lives productively. Otherwise, your encounters seem to be limited to some fairly "fringe" people.

Which means what? That you too cool folk should mention the Reefer Madness movie everytime something unfortunate happens or when there are indemic problems in the culture that we don't want to talk about. So you can have your nervous giggle and so that we'll be calm and quite because thats the way you like us. Sorry, we care.

This is most certainly not a response to your quotation from my post. To refresh your memory,

<<However, there are plenty of people who have a glass of wine with dinner and manage not to head straight for the nearest gutter. Likewise, there are plenty of people who smoke a joint now and then and suffer no deleterious effects and who certainly don't move along to any other drugs.>>

If you found the reference to the movie offensive or belittling, I apologize. However, I do not believe that the world has gone to hell around me in a morass of sex, drugs, and rock & roll. It does seem to have lost a good deal of courtesy though as well as respect for differences.
