Nymex May Natural Gas closed at a new all-time high today.

May futures closed at $2.955, up 6.8 cents.

This is a record close for May gas (see graph).

I'm not a TA type but would you say HTP is forming a classic pennant formation - a horizontal top line at $2 bucks with successively rising bottoms?? Apparently that's a classic formation in the few books I've read on the subject. Eventually the breakout is to the upside.

Until recently, there were a few bucks to be made buying HTP off the lows at $1.40 or less and reducing into the highs above $1.80 or so. Not a brilliant scheme but it helped offset earlier losses. This time I'm not reducing but suspect others may be. Thus a resistance point around the $2 level. As mentioned earlier, suspect we'll soon see this glass ceiling shatter. It should be interesting for you TA types!!
