I was smoking marijuana or hashish almost daily, often many times a day. Hallucinogens less frequently. I don't see that crowd often any more, but all are fairly prominent in their chosen fields and thoroughly respected citizens. We were all working in creative/artistic occupations at the time (many still are), which may explain it to some degree: it's easier to function in that world while stoned than it might be if you were, say, a stockbroker or junior executive. I used to write freelance ad copy and film scripts, and I don't think I could have done that if I wasn't stoned.
