I read something about that once a year bit too. I don't remember if it was in Be Here Now or some place else. One of the things I remember him emphasising was that if you are going to do it, do it to the max other wise you don't get the opportunity for a life changing experience. He was also real down on the drug culture of the seventies because he said to many people are going for it (dropping out) when they were never enough into anything to drop out of it. In other words, he strongly felt at that time that "dropping out" should be qualified in context. For adults only, I guess.
