Thanks for the added reference, Dave, it's helped bring the topic closer to reality.

BTW, was this a typo?--> "Experimental devices have run at frequencies as high as 113 Hz."

I also found it interesting to read the comments on solitons operating in wdm environments. The thought that problems would ensue had crossed my mind more than once.
