sorry to be an annoyance, but everyone should read this:

I guess what makes you an annoyance is that you keep making the same point over and over again. We get that it's dangerous to sell naked puts and naked calls beyond one's capacity to cover. Well, duh! I don't think that most of us are talking about that here. I sell a few puts at a time with the idea that I'll be glad to own the stock at the price minus premium if it turns out that it's below the strike. THAT'S THE WORSE CASE SCENARIO FOR ME. Either I collect a premium at the end of the option period, or I get put a stock that I wanted at a price below what I would have paid on the day that I sold the put. If I were selling large blocks of naked puts, your warnings would make sense. That's not what we've been talking about here.

We get the message. You don't like any option strategies besides your own--- you like to buy calls. I don't think that you need to keep stating it OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Taxman,

That is a very thoughtful and well-meant post by David Lind. Thanks for pasting it here. It echoes my own conclusions after a week like this, as I had sold a large number of OTM naked puts and had to scramble to reposition. I'm now looking to use more spreads, to sell naked puts with more of a trader's mentality (as I do with covered calls), to essentially broaden my strategies. I think this last point, that of broadening options trading stategies, was made clear by Mr. Lind. Are you taking his post to heart?
