Scumbria:

Re: "AMD is going to have to be very aggressive in process technology to compete against Willy. This is analagous to the Athlon-PIII situation, except in reverse roles."

Comment: Very major "determinant" is missing in this analogy...The Athy is "here-and-now" and has demonstrated amazing scalability to date, and that is factual...Given the historical ease of Athy scalability demonstrated to date, it is ot unreasonable to think that significant future Athy scalability will also be demonstrated. ..Willy is a "some-time-in-the-future-if-ever" proposed contestant and as a "some-time-in-the-future-if-ever" proposed contestant, is possibly plagued with insurmountable production hurdles, a taste of which we have seen, in the PWeeIII's oft foiled attempts at producing anything above 733 MHz in meaningful quantity! Willy is not a serious threat if it cannot be produced in meaningful quantities, and, as far as I can ascertain, meaningful production quantities of Willy are still very much pie in the sky...even assuming Willy does overcome the very significant production hurdle, which is certainly not a given, imho, there is no guarantee that Willy will be competitive (on an all-in price/performance basis including cost of memory) with Athy offerings by that time...Athy/Willy comparisons remind me of childhood advice offered me...A bird (Athy) in hand is worth (at least) two (Willys) in the bush...

Scumbria, I have to thank you again for NSM. I've done very well. I saw my first $58 purchase fly, then dive! I bought more on this weeks dip.

Thanks,

Dave
