Bob,

Sorry to hear of your woes. I guess that's one of the reasons I have been watching NASCAR on TV (and in the newspaper) for over 30 years.

I had a go-cart a while back, and raced it in the "box stock" class. Every week I'd go to the track with some little trick up my sleeve, and every week there was someone else with a new, professionally prepared engine that blew me away. I decided my pocket was not deep enough way back then. Even though it's a lot deeper now, I still can't see it.

Then box-bladed the track and beat the daylights out of myself and the go-kart on it.
Ahhhhhhh... That much fun really should be illegal.

A fitting way to end an otherwise lousy day.

Have fun,
Phil

Dear SI Admin (Bob): Well, looking at the picture the suspension looks good!! Incidentally, have you considered racing with the tractor? (gg). Sorry to hear of your misfortune, maybe the crankshaft wasnt replaced when the engine was rebuilt? JDN

I coasted as close to the exit as I could get, and had to be towed back to the paddock
by, of all things, a Chevy truck. The indignity of it all!

Before a flamewar gets started between the Chevy and Ford truck factions (though they're kinda fun), I should add that I've got a 97 Chevy extended cab.

But I've got a Truck, too. <g> F350 Crew Cab.

In all fairness, I don't recall a Chevy ever doing this to me: bytor.hypermart.net

Speaking of real trucks, my instructor at the track had 4 other students and asked if any of us had something that'd carry 6 people for our instructor run-through on the track. I told him about my truck and that it'd carry 6 comfortably, even if they're not close friends, but he might have to back up a couple of times to get around some of the turns. They all laughed, but I was only half-joking. Takes about 40 acres to turn that rig around.

We all ended up crammed into an Explorer.

When my wife and I are planning to go somewhere, we actually discuss the likely parking situation before deciding whether to take my truck or hers. Not only is it simply not possible to fit my truck into a normal parking space, we've found it's impossible to negotiate some parking lots at all. And I'd never dream of trying a parking garage.

PS. Fudged Over Rebuilt Dodge

My favorite one is "Fiat": "Fix It Again, Tony". I used to be a foreign car mechanic, and can attest to the appropriateness of that one.
