I should think that would be an extremely salient point. The father should be cross-examined, his statements should be verified by the physical records either way. If he was in prior contact with the Miami relatives and had sought their help in facilitating Elian's arrival in the US, then his total 180 in his current stance should be heavily scrutinized.
