With the economy and corruption in Mexico, do you blame the Mexican people that want to get to the USA, and do so every day and night.

Precisely my point. We accept refugees from Cuba, but not (in theory, at least) from Mexico, because Mexico is "free" and Cuba isn't. But in actual practice, that construct called "freedom" is totally meaningless to the poor Mexican who crosses the border.

Cubans don't flee to the US because they hate socialism, though they will proclaim that this is the case if they think it will get them refugee status. They do it because Cuba is a third-world country and the US is a first-world country, and it is much nicer to live in the first world than it is in the third (unless you're a dollar-earning expatriate, in which case the third world can be a very comfy place).

If the country where I live shared a land border with the US, you would have to deploy the entire US Army to keep the whole population from migrating en masse.
