Taken without the permission of JM, who had legal custody, and with whom the boy lived the majority of the time before the mother decided to follow the criminal boyfriend onto the leaky boat. This thing you're on about how JM should have gone to Miami is stupid, he would have been greatly outnumbered there ... real life doesn't go like Rambo movies, Robert, he would have stood no chance whatsoever. The leaders of that gusano bunch are powerful ruthless fanatics, they hate anybody who doesn't think exactly like they tell them to think, and they control the Miami area completely ... he had no chance ... he couldn't reason with them on the telephone, force of arms was not an option, so he had to go through channels. A wise decision imho, considering that he has a few hundred centuries of family law custom of our species on his side.
