Skeet-- <<"public opinion shouldn't decide legal matters. judges do">>. I heartily agree with that 100%. I also believe biased judges have no business hearing a case. Jackson has an ego bigger than Gates. He had predetermined the outcome of this case before the first hearing. He loaded the 19 dwarfs just so he was certain there would be no settlement as there could be no agreement. Principle of msft will cost all shareholders a ton. We are looking at dead money for a much longer period than the previous year if there is nothing positive forthcoming. IMO Jackson should see the case overturned simply on his statements and actions. That msft made some mistakes is not a question. That they will pay is understood and those things could have been handled by a judge without prejudice. Jacksons mishandleing of this case will cost msft, shareholders, the economy, consumers, and technology a high price simply due to Jackson. This is something that never should have gone as far as it did yet alone all the millions to be spent the next few years on lawyers.
But no one was forced to buy msft. That statement alone indicates you have not closely followed the case. There is nothing in Windows or Office that does not have an alternative,, many of which I have tried and found not to my likeing except IE. I much prefer AND USE Netscape Communicator. Hope to download Netscape 6 this weekend...
<<"i should have been more clear and said the judge agrees
with me.">> Jackson would have done exactly the same if no one agreed with him... the man is a disgrace to the bench upon he sits... very UNprofessional. A brighter person in his position could have at least hid his thoughts and feelings from day 1... but then we do not know where his retirement supplement is coming from and he can now write a book that a few people may pay for-- although most interested in such a book will not buy it but go to the local free library..
