Thread

I am back for my bi weekly dilemma. Had a problem rebooting my puter which has win 98 first edition on it.

On reboot it gave the message: "HIMEM SYS has detected unreliable XMS memory at address 040000006. XMS Driver not installed"

Then it told me to hit enter to start in safe mode....

I hit enter...

Then "HIMEM SYS is missing"

"Make sure that the file is in your windows directory. windows has stopped press Ctrl alt delete to restart"

did the ctrl alt delete thing and went through the same process again.

So I shut it down and unplugged the box. Threw computer out the window and everything was fine...

Just kidding. I shut it down and unplugged it. Waited a few minutes, plugged it back in and it rebooted fine.

Question to this long winded post is: How do I check to make sure the HIMEM SYS is installed. I ran a file check and have a Himem.sys file folder so I assume its there but want to verify with the Comp Learning masterminds.

Thanks
David
