<"Gut feeling" is not adequate.>
The gut feeling thing is not my reason to buy the option. I buy options based on an analysis of where the stock has been and where I think it will go. We seem to agree that WCOM is in a pretty good position for calls now (a LEAP in this case). My gut feeling comment was in reference to what strike price I purchase. I usually purchase when they are in the money because I feel they are less risky. I can hold for a while, and if my reason for purchasing is not panning out, I can sell without loosing it all. The trade off is that I cannot leverage as much stock as I could with a higher strike price (and lower option price). I started this line of questioning to learn more about other peoples strategies with options, and appreciate your (and LoF's) feedback. I still like my strategy better, which I will call a conservitive approach to buying options. Thanks again for the insight.
