Tony: I remember Richard Nixon's wage and price controls, which set off at least part of the inflationary spiral. And of course, who can forget Gerald Ford's WIN (Whip Inflation Now) campaign, which of course was followed by Jimmy Carter's "Misery Index". And then came the real tough guy who pissed all over inflation. His name was Paul Volcker, and to this day, he receives far too little credit for engineering the fabulous economic recovery that we are still experiencing. I remember all to well the days of Keynesian economics, when clowns like Robert Gordon of Northwestern made routine trips to Washington to expand upon how governmental expenditures were the best way to keep the economy strong. Those days of liberal gobbledygook are thankfully over, since we have effectively had a Republican President in the White House for the past 20 years.
