Being under the influence of drugs is a mitigating circumstance. BUT, that doesn't imply that I think she shouldn't be held totally responsible for her acts.

I hardly think she was a threat to the public at large, since she had demonstrated for the time she was in prison (10 years?) that she was a model prisoner. So I doubt that she was much of an "escape" threat. Everything I have read about her indicates that she was very highly regarded in the prison population and with the prison authorities.

My point is if there was EVER a person who "deserved" to have her death sentence commuted, I think she was a good candidate. The idea of playing politics with human lives really disgusts me, so I would prefer that we just build adequate prison facilities for convicted murderers and give them life sentences/no parole.
