Ok, I will go and get the fifth "second mortgage" on my house tonight! LOL

On a serious note are you concerned about some hedge funds going broke?

Voltman you don't have to proof anything, I was just having some fun on a very sad day. May be my timing was not right. I am really sorry if I upset some of the gang.

So V, you think we come back strong tomorrow? Does it stick....send us in to a few weeks of good upwards movement, or are we in deep doo doo in another few weeks.

Voltaire,

I'm not laughing -- I appreciate the fact that you were (and still are) willing to stick your neck out.

I believe we have a bit to go down here, but the increase in negativity everywhere is a good sign. Just look at the volume of porch traffic this evening. People are concerned and afraid. It is when they are dreaming of how much money they will have if their stocks just double one more time that a big downturn is about to begin. That's the way it was a few weeks ago. Now they are starting to worry about how little money they will have if stocks drop in half from here -- so the turn should come shortly.

V,

The hell with these Monday morning quarterbacks. It takes real guts to wait until a prediction fails to remind the world that it was wrong.

These guys remind me of the schoolyard Eddie Haskells that no one respected.

Hi Voltaire: Seems like the porch is under a bit of pressure. We all must calm down and approach things sensibly and analytically. Many of us fear a margin call. My thoughts are that if we go lower, it's short-term. Personally, I have a highly concentrated position in QCOM. I'm new to options and frankly feel more comfortable with protective stops at certain levels. We all remember the recent bounce off of 124+ last week. We previously had support at around 120. My last buy was at 111, just prior to a run up to the 130's. I'll probably place a stop in the high teens and also at 110 but really hope we don't approach those levels.

Phsycology plays a major role in this game. Time is on our side.......be patient. The "Coming into the Buying Range" thread went down the "tubes" because of the pressure during rough times.

I don't post often but have read everything on this thread. Let's try to maintain the high level of analysis/opinions. You folks are a true part of my life.

Hi Volt. Look, if every call you made was right, now that would be down right scary. Please don't let the nay-sayers get to you Tom. Today only proved you are human. Ain't nutin' wrong with that my friend.

This porch has learned a lot by listening to your wisdom & your angels. Please keep sharing your thoughts & wisdom regularly. This porch is a great place to add to ones investment strategies. Anyone who thinks that every word uttered by the porch leaders is gospel needs to get a few tough wake up calls to reality IMVHO.

I would certainly like to hear your thoughts as to why the NAZ couldn't hold the gains today. I would like to hear everyone's point of view so we can try to make sense of what is going on. Ain't that what this porch is about after all? Learning, sharing & helping each other out????

FWIW, me thinks it was in line with what you were saying earlier, That first drop & quick recovery did little to bring out margin selling & bring on real fear. This slower grinding drop has brought on tons of margin sells & today I think they were going into accounts & selling for those who did not answer the calls on their own during the last hour.

Tom, please give this serious consideration; do a postmortem & give it to us straight. We are adults here (well most of us). I still have a deep respect for your thoughts & opinions. I'd hate to see that stop because of a few cheap shots from the peanut gallery.

Regards,

w2

Morning V (Yes, I know, don't I ever sleep???):

What's your take of tommorow (actually, today), considering the fact that it is Friday. Do you think that there may be a downturn by the end of the day because people won't want to have their money tied up over the weekend with consideration to this mentality of "uncertainty"?

David
