BIG DOG ? - do you remember April 1997-ish in the Oilpatch ?

I'm curious if you remember the environment in the patch back then. I wasn't involved in the Oilpatch stocks at that time...

Any similarities ? How do you compare the potential to then & now ? - comments ?
=========================================================================
I've been going back and looking at some 1997 charts of the oilpatch.

We are poised exactly for a similar move imho.

HLX as a fab company for example, ran from about $11-$12 to $30-35 for example. VTS went from $19 in April to $42 in September folks... the drillers just went nuts.

Big Dog - I cant imagine that "anyone" expected that type of move, did they ? - and it's not like now - where we will be re-tracing to those prior levels; they were going into unchartered territory back then !~

The move started in April as well - broke out in a virtual explosion and never looked back - only now; we even have more potential cash & rotation money to be added here AND we have the track record of the sector's prior upside move potential...and the companies are leaner & meaner with more earnings leverage !

JimL - you've got me thinking about those "calls" - FGH hmmmmm - obviously it has the potential, DO huge unappreciated peak cycle upside - FLC they've got those $50-$70 price targets and the prior appreciation moves of 1997 endorse that as not being pure blue sky...

I am beginning to see the possiblity of OSX 165ish by year end... how about $48 FLC, $35 PGO, $70 RIG, $60 HAL - and what "could" FGH do with that TDW contract and a just one, or two "newbuilds" ?

hmmmmm ? Imagine the possibilities...

A mere two-three -four months ago; no one believed that the E&P's would move like they just did.... is $50-$70 FLC really that far fetched ? - VTS ran from $19 to $42 in just a bit over 18 weeks the last time - who says they can't do it again ?
