I do recall reading that Bush could not act unless the review board took certain actions, which it was not expected to take (this was some time ago). That didn't seem a promising situation. It's not a case I've followed closely, and it is entirely possible that I missed something. Regardless of the outcome of this particular case, the idea of allowing people who run for office to pass judgement on such cases is a little scary. It's just too damned easy for politics to creep into the equation.
