Maybe today's selling is really just margin requirements not being met by individuals from this week's selloffs. Combine that with possible hedge fund problems and that could explain today's unexpected late day drop. Does anyone know many days typical online brokers give clients to meet margin calls? Does it differ from full service brokers? My thinking is that maybe it is Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday selloffs that are being played out in forced margin selling.
