So...how do we make money during a market selloff? Everyone has been burned shorting stocks over the last few years. I get the feeling everyone is still talking about buying the dips. It might work but I am not willing to make that bet. So, what to short? I am too nervous to short a high flyer so I shorted SCH a few days ago with the thinking trading might dry up and margin interest revenue will go down as investors lighted up. I was a registered rep with Schwab during the market break of 1990. The phone calls(trades)completely dried up after the first market break. They had a miserable quarter and the stock went way down. It is worth a shot anyway. I am nervous so It is probably the right move.
