Through environmentally directed socialization people tend to adjust to the societal rules and norms of morality. Studies on the "group think" phenomena have shown how the process can lead to very bad outcomes. As I pointed out in more than one post societal standards on morality may actually deviate a great deal from what free thinking individuals would define as moral or immoral. Again, they are able to do so because of innate ability.
