On the bright side, this may be the climax everybody has been wanting to have. Should we place bets?

Lack of Interest Forces Cancellation of Congressional "Trade Mission" to China

(CNSNews.com) - This week's anti-China labor-union rally on Capitol Hill apparently is having results: The White House Thursday cancelled a congressional trade mission to China, one day before it was supposed to begin, because not enough lawmakers were interested in going. Commerce Secretary William Daley had planned to lead the delegation of "undecided" US lawmakers to China as part of a White House effort to round up Democratic support for an upcoming vote on granting China permanent normal trade relations. (The deal would pave the way for China's entry into the World Trade Organization.) Thousands of labor union members - the traditional allies of Democrats -- gathered on Capitol Hill earlier this week to lobby against the trade deal, because of China's poor record on human rights, labor standards, and the environment. Some labor leaders threatened to retaliate against lawmakers who took part in the trade mission, prompting some of them to drop out at the last minute.
