Compaq owns a big chunk of CMGI, that stock is down from 163 to 54 today. I suspect Dell's portfolio is taking a similar hit, as is Intel's. Remember all the hoopla about PALM??? Well, COMS owns a big chunk of PALM and the stock is down from 165 to 31 today...

Regards,
John

PS - And I think that once the boys and girls playing with these types of issues recover from their finger burns they will not be touching them as eagerly again <gggg>...

total invested was around $900 million. total unrealized gain was $2 billion at the high. if they're down by 1/2 as you claim (without naming the actual companies, i.e. RedHat, etc), then account is at $1.5 billion total, still well ahead of the $900 million.

trust me though, Dell actively protects its positions with option trading techniqes

are you attempting to create more panic?

Re: "Will people decide this weekend that with a strong economy, they are better off working to make money, rather than counting on trading or investing?"

The fears have been taken out of the stock market and put into the hears of the investors. Now is the time they (the fearful investors) will sell you quality stocks at bargain prices in relation to future earnings potential.

DELL, INTC & MSFT are at bargain prices in relation to their future earnings potentials. These companies will relate that to the prudent investors very soon and they will lead the market up.
