Chuck,

This does not bode well for the likes of INTC, DELL, etc.

famulus.msnbc.com

What do think if INTC misses a penny or provides dire Q2 guidance? Do you think if it's possible for some big name analysts to downgrade INTC and upgrade AMD simultaneously?

Man, this week's stock market is more exciting than the roller coaster in the Six Flags amusement part.

Re: <But I don't think AMD is threatening Intel's earnings yet. That may start in Q3.>

I think it is already happened and I expect Intel's Q2 to be pretty bad. For the entire quarter, AMD will be shipping 3 speed grades or more ahead of Intel - this is a situation that Intel never faced before.

I fully expect Intel to call for a sequentially down quarter (and probably take NASDAQ further down with it).

Chuck,
I think INTC will continue to show good earnings, but not revenue growth. I have trouble beleiving that INTC can actually be capacity constrained.

I think INTC recognizes the threat on the high end from AMD so they have "created" their own supply problems to make the low end more profitable. No one, including AMD, is able to make up for an INTC supply shortage. INTC can create a shortage if they want to. By doing this, INTC can continue to grow profits even though they don't own the high end.

I think this would be a very good strategy for INTC to take given the current situation. Obviously, this would also be very good for AMD.
