I agree with your post, Spirit. Very much agree. The problem is of course determining the market top. We would all be quite well off if we could do that. We are all afraid to sell then watch another 100% gain in the stocks we sold.

Isn't the best course to become somewhat mechanical--looking at how the market did the past Nov to Apr time frame AND the same period in past years if you bought in late Oct and mechanically sold in late Jan or early Feb you would have banked gains of 200% to 300% --then sit on the sidelines and wait for this annual debacle--and buy again.
