I appreciate your astute remarks. I really have no Rambus agenda. A few years back I did some performance analysis (for a major microprocessor company) and determined that the critical factor in desktop PC performance was memory latency.

At one time I thought that Rambus was a good idea, because of the lower pin count. What I didn't think of at the time was the higher manufacturing and test costs for both the DRAM and the other chips in the system.

DRDRAM has proven to be far more expensive than anyone imagined, and as I have stated many times, I believe it's value is limited to applications which require multiple high bandwidth ports to DRAM.
