Nancy, Thank you so much for your help in Genesis. The reason why I try to not use this one is because of translational differences. Look: NIV They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." RSV and they called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them." KJV And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. DBY And they called to Lot, and said to him, Where are the men that have come in to thee to-night? bring them out to us that we may know them. YLT and they call unto Lot and say to him, `Where [are] the men who have come in unto thee to-night? bring them out unto us, and we know them.' Now if you read the rest of the surrounding scripture it is obvious it is talking about men having sex with men. Why would he offer daughters that were not yet known to man? Obviously we know what that means. But I have a strong feeling, because of translational differences, someone might say, "knowing someone" could mean they wanted to beat on someone (or something like that), and not necessarily have sex with them. Of course that context would be absolutely wrong, but look at what the Jews do with Isaiah 53!!! These versus can not be mistaken, in any translation: Lev 18 22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Lev 20 13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: Romans 1 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. No translational issues here to battle!!!!! Please keep my friend and I in prayer about these matters.... God Bless, Steve
