Ian, I suspect that You are right on the money about the consequences of a falling BTB.

When Dell reported a shortfall of earnings because of an inability to supply the market (rising BTB) the stock got trashed.(opportunity lost they called it)

But investors are obsessed with numbers. The first interpretation of any number is rarely correct. After all bigger is always better. (BG)

This is the essential problem with instant information. We just don't have the time to interpret it.

I stayed long all my positions and added a few option calls with the funds that I had available. (Sept, in the money calls).

Predictions for tomorrow all all over the board. What would the pundits say if the big sell off scheduled for tomorrow refused to show up?

I do recall that my portfolio has done the best when I retreated to my rustic cabin on Lake Superior for a month or so and left the television and computer in the sleep mode.

Regards, Jerome

Kudo's Ian.

The retort to the 'we are the world' sentiment is not heard frequently enough on SI or elsewhere. Nor is your 'Mr. Market' opinion...which is right on the money as well.

Perhaps we all need a reassuring letter from home Message 13437451

Ian,

<<Shipments today, are at or near an all time high. A falling Book to Bill would be a healthy indication that:

he sector is not overheating;
the equipment companies are able to keep up with orders;
lead times are not growing excessively;
prices paid by the chipmakers will remain reasonable;
double booking is unlikely;
etc.>>

Nice to see your usual dose of sanity and common sense. I put on my buying shoes at Friday's close. And have more cash to spend this week. Selling into this market is just plain loco. I'm grateful I have the temperment to take full advantage even if I don't buy at the very bottom.

Ever,

D
