Dines has, a you note, has written a retail newsletter for a long time. My assessment of him is that he's a shooter. He's either going to be dead wrong or dead right. His recent record is pretty good. The main change in his newsletter over the past ten years is that he only recommends in writing fairly decent stocks so that if he is dead wrong the carnage is both explainable and manageable. And, usually he chooses a stock that has some assets so the recommendation can't be a write-off. He used to roll the dice on some pretty crappy stocks in my view. What he does in private with his clients, I don't know. His mention of PFN wasn't really a "buy" recommendation but it was there along with Stillwater just in case PFN hit. From what I can see he's better than average. But, I'm biased as I also believe palladium and the related stocks are going to explode so I like reading positive things from him or whoever writes the articles.
