The techs had a bad day each and every day of last week. There will be margin call Monday and could get a lot worse.

For the last couple of hours I have been looking at the yearly charts of about 80 high tech stocks. Wow, what carnage! It is really ugly.

The problem, IMO, is that for the past several years, the dip buyers have done well. But this latest dip buyers (climax on Tuesday) have not. Some of the dip buyers have already bought on the dip. Not a whole lot of money left on the sideline. Who is going to buy all the margin call related shares up for sale?

This suggests that the selloffs on Thursday and Friday are triggered by the margin calls on Monday and Tuesday. I am sure there will be more margin calls caused by Friday's drop. However, this one will not be due until Wednesday. Let's hope Intel will have some real numbers out so these small investors will not be forced to sell more.

Ken,

I believe my Thursday call is due tomorrow so I think the Friday calls will be due on Tuesday. I will check on that.
