I fully agree with Grace and TLC,

This is intend to be a message board with quality posts about investments. Not a vehicle for ads.

We all understand that ads are needed to pay for the system but with limits. To put an ad within a message is crossing these limits.

I personally hate it when I drive through nature and every two miles I see a large billboard for a detergent or an insurance company. Nature is not intended to be used as a vehicle for ads. Not all in life is only about making money.

Understanding the fine lines between what is acceptable and what not is a matter of culture. Understanding the effect of offending part of your customer base is a matter of business.

Posts on SI have gone down 40% from last year. If quality posters like TLC are leaving, the number will go down more until we get the inflow of "free members" of the type of NDB.

In revenue terms it makes no difference to put an ad just below the text line or just above. It does make a difference for the one posting.

TLC, I really hope you stay here! So I copy his request to put the ads half an inch lower.

Regards,
Pareto

I have been looking at the ads for some time. They don't bother me. I think they are excellent use of space and loacation and will ad(d) to the bottom line. I see no reason for me to be up in arms.

Is it the ad you dislike or the item being advertised?

PS Though I am not upset about them I fully believe in and respect your right to be upset and post whatever you like to this thread. If it bothers enough people and does begin to cause the erosion you predict I would be in favor of eliminating them.
