PAUL.... I've listened to your fine presentation at the BOD meeting. Well done! I thought Eric gave you a thoughtful response to what was an extremely focused, thoughtful question: (Excuse me for ripping/condensing paraphrasing your question)....... Why the focus on NDS when Drew Major has all this great technology and all the fire and energy behind his Internet Operating System vision?? Eric said he "disagreed with some of the premises" behind your question, telling us that there IS a two pronged strategy to "merge" Drew's vision with the plan for NDS. He then went on to say that what Drew has created could/is/should be the killer application of the next 2+ years. Eric then want on to say that the CMGI deal is just the first in a long series based on "his" vision. For the ultimate services sale has to map to this ONE vision. Correct me if I am wrong Paul, but I sensed there's a struggle inside Novell between the Old Directory/Netware folks and Drew's Vision. This needs to be resolved. I don't know what side of the fence Eric is on or if he's chosen sides, but my bet would be to let Drew really RUN with the ball. If there ARE two systems with the same profile, identity, incryption which driving them there still has to be ONE mind of understanding to launch, power and support it internally before the world embraces it. I "see", "feel" and understand this ONE vision. My whole purpose is to empower INDIVIDUALS to control the ultimate ball. Technology needs to help and serve us, not the other way around. And the ultimate ONE vision has to begin with the freedom and power of the INDIVIDUAL. This is really a HUGE mindset change for everyone to "get". But once you "get it" whole massive new worlds of opportunity open up for everyone. I hope Eric sees through the politics to create the support that let's Drew's vision radiate massively. I have never met Drew and have no vested interest other than to see Novell get off the dime, take risk and progress. Peace. GO!!
