A lesson on how to miss THE BOSS, aka Bruce Springsteen, when he comes to your town.

E Street has been selling out in a matter of hours across the nation, EXCEPT in Austin where the show never did sell out. We have a very strange fan base here. Sonic Youth could sell out the biggest place in town, but acts like the Billy Joel/Dylan show didn't even sell out. I'm confident I can get primo tickets for my 10 year-old and myself. It would be his first REAL concert and I figure I'd be COOL Dad deluxe forever.

SO I'm planning on catching Bruce tonight due to the legendary live shows I've always heard about. I saw him on an acoustic show in a relatively small venue a few years back but it was basically a sleeper (for me)

This morning we notice the "Blanco" aka Mr. Chews-a-lot is just sprawled out on the back porch and won't get up. Upon further inspection it's clear that his hind leg is really hurting him. Subsequent X-rays reveal a broken hip. SInce there are no cars to hit him out here we attribute it to either falling off the back deck in his sleep or being kicked by a llama in the night as he made his rounds.
He's too young for hip replacement surgery so he has to have the boned "pinned" in order for him to have a chance at a normal life. It will be determined later if he needs the new hip. I won't even go into the costs because it's irrelevant (it's a sh*tload). He is delivered to the specialist and at some point Lostwife crinks her neck. She can't move it and needs immediate attention.

END of show..NO encore..

I had a job, I had a girl
I had something going mister in this world
I got laid off down at the lumber yard
Our love went bad, times got hard
Now I work down at the carwash
Where all it ever does is rain
Don't you feel like you're a rider on a downbound train
