SNDK Up Over 8 Points So Far... Are we out of this? I am beginning to think so. Sandisk seems to be enjoying the general NASDAQ buying opportunity right now. I hope that Sandisk can announce shipment of their SD card at tomorrow's Earnings CC. Does anyone know if Sandisk uses VCALL or a similar service?

MOS chips and ROS chips I received an album recorded on a ROM chip from Siemens (now Infineon) with my Pontis MP3 player purchase. This was the first MP3 device with MMC slots (2). These pre-recorded chips are also called "ROS" (Recorded On Silicon) or "MOS" (Music On Silicon) and are "cheap as dirt" to manufacture. They are essentially MMC cards with only readable content. I guess they don't require a controller or other components which boost manufacturing costs. In this way they are more like SmartMedia cards. The only problem with ROS/MOS is that it eliminates the Internet as a means of commerce. You will have to go out and physically purchase these cards or order them on-line. I see the market for naked, rewritable MMC and SDMC to be several fold larger than the market for ROSes or MOSes. Ausdauer
