I am puzzled why someone would upgrade Intel the same day prior earnings? Why couldn't they wait until after the numbers? What if they are wrong? Will they change the ratings the next morning? Maybe the numbers have been already leaked.

It seems that the analysts never do anything in a normal manner when it comes to Intel.

Thread, here is a thought based on todays actions. Early on Intel was up and AMD was down. Then techs took off and they were both up, though INTC was up more % points. Now INTC is dropping, probably day traders selling and people starting to WORRY about 2Q. Yet, AMD has dropped minimally.

Right now Intel is up less than $3 and AMD is up $5 - a HUGE % difference the opposite way.

My thinking is maybe people are seeing that either way INTC guides, it will be good for AMD. Unless they warn of decreased orders (which they won't say 1) it's not true and 2) that's shooting themselves in the foot).

This may all change in the last few minutes of trading but that's just my 2 cents on today's action.
