Hi Frank.
Looks like most of your questions answered. I live in Concord, CA. We are the 2nd city the service is being offered in. Also, T is my current cable supplier. They recently purchased TCI, who had purchased Concord Cable TV. I have called on Pacific Bell for DSL and ATT for cable modem and neither offers the service to my house or can tell me when they will. Seren coming in and installing new cable was a pleasant surprise for me. My initial observation was how in the heck can they make any money with the high cost of laying cable to everyone's houses? Particularly when T could offer the same service for a much lower cost (to T). I speculate that they chose Concord because: a)T and Pac Bell don't even have roll out dates yet, b) most of the city's utilities are supplied above ground, hence lower start up cost.

Anyway, I am now encouraged that these hybrid systems may be an advancemet from what T could offer. Any insight is appreciated, and I'll keep the thread posted if I learn anything of interest.
