Just when you think the group at yahoo can't get any worse...wow, they blow you away. Not sure how they live w/themselves...'course I'm starting out talkin' to myself here...

I'm starting to notice quite a bit more press on VoIP lately. 2 articles of note in the 15 May Interactive Week. Page 90 describes a large effort underway in China to build a VoIP network provided by ITXC & iBasis, using Cisco hardware. China appears to be strongly tilted towards VoIP due to their low tele-density, and attempts to reduce monopoly. China also sees VoIP as an "opportunity for total telecom restructuring." Brian Ploskina

Also, on page I-16, mention is made of Convergys & Narus. They have apparently created an environment that could simulate call volume of a carrier class VoIP service network serving 50M subscribers. They were able to handle a throughput of 6,000 billing events/second. A key product of this trial was the ability to profile useage, provide fraud protection, and churn info. The final quote from Convergys..."what we've done here for the IP industry is similar to what the mosaic Web browser did for the Internet"...overblown IMO, but who cares...he's excited...
