Analyst Updates -
as some of you have noticed, the earnings projections from some firms are fully taxed while others are pre tax - so there are discrepancies.

RobbyStephens -
00 - go from 25 to 27cents
01 - go from 43 to 49
these must be after tax
- impressed with cash position going up to 6 million
- like lack of inventory on balance sheet

H&Q -
00 - go from 38 to 42
01 - stay at 70 cents
pre tax
- say this report validates royalty biz

Warburg -
00 - go from 39 to 42 (27 TAXED)
01 - go from 70 to 75 (48 " )
02 - at 1.33 (85 Taxed)

So what have we got -
Revenues in line - but royalty/equip mix surprising
- a company with 75% fully taxed earnings growth
- a company moving quickly to a royalty based revenue stream
- new projects, new customers, company going balls to the wall

Gross margins are 100% for royalties
vs. 70% for equip and 30% for contract

So any small bump in royalty revenue has a huge impact on the bottom line.

This is the purest, most leveraged play on DSL out there - so if you believe in broad band, and in DSL's role in delivering it - AWRE IS THE PLACE TO BE.

ps - Warburg target - 68.

GlobeSpan Shatters Existing G.lite Speed Barrier with 4 Mbps Offering
Software Upgrade to Titanium Fourte(tm) Chipset Offers Highest Available Speed and Density
RED BANK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 25, 2000-- Driving G.lite speed limits up to 4 Mbps, GlobeSpan, Inc. today announced a software upgrade to its Titanium Fourte(tm) chipset which more than doubles today's 1.5 Mbps speeds. GlobeSpan's achievement is further enhanced with a solution that substantially reduces power and increases density by 30% over existing solutions on the market. This breakthrough in speed affirms GlobeSpan's leadership position and demonstrates its ability to drive future market requirements.

The Titanium Fourte chipset is a highly flexible solution that allows equipment manufacturers a speedier time-to-market. By requiring minimal external components that result in a compact board layout, equipment manufacturers can also cut development costs.

The full programmability and field upgradeability of the chipset minimizes the risk of product obsolescence. In addition to supporting G.lite, the chipset also supports all ADSL standards including G.DMT (ITU G.992.1), G.992.1 and G.992.2 Annex C, ANSI T1.413 Issue 2, and ANSI TR-59 RADSL.

``By achieving this measure of speed and density, we have once again led the industry in performance,'' said Angelo Stephano, GlobeSpan's Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. ``This latest software upgrade is a testament to GlobeSpan's commitment to constantly enhance our products' functionality and provide greater value to our customers.''

Availability

GlobeSpan's Titanium Fourte chipset featuring the 4 Mbps G.lite software upgrade is now available, along with a detailed reference design aimed at reducing customers' development cost and accelerating their time-to-market.

About GlobeSpan

GlobeSpan, Inc. is a leading provider of integrated circuit, software, and system designs for digital subscriber line (DSL) applications which enable high-speed data transmission over existing copper wire telephone lines at rates over 100 times faster than today's 56 Kilobit modems. Both Cahners-Instat and Dataquest have ranked GlobeSpan number one in DSL chipset shipments.

GlobeSpan leverages seven years of field experience implementing DSL technology to deliver high performance, cost effective DSL chipset and software solutions to DSL equipment manufacturers worldwide. The company's core engineering team includes individuals who were early developers of DSL technology at AT&T Bell Labs, in addition to experts in VLSI design, communications algorithms, IP routing and switching, ATM protocols, and Voice over DSL system software. These core competencies enable GlobeSpan to deliver complete DSL system solutions. GlobeSpan offers a broad suite of standards based integrated DSL chipset solutions for ADSL, SDSL, SHDSL, HDSL, and HDSL2 applications utilizing DMT, 2B1Q, PAM, and CAP line codes. To date, the company has shipped millions of DSL chipsets to a customer base of more than 100 DSL equipment manufacturers globally, representing a considerable share of this emerging market.

Speed is one thing...distance is another. Wonder what distances this really works at. Anyway it goes to show G.lite maybe applied to full rate ADSL at some point.
